Securing Malia and Sasha: Will the First Family daughters be accompanying Obama to Kenya?, Take a look at their prestigious lives ahead of the anticipated visit

About three weeks ago, the Obama girls, Malia (16) and Sasha (14), made headlines after they jetted into Milan on Air Force One and hit the fashion capital’s malls looking all smiley and dressed-down.
Malia wore a matching black-and-white checked shorts and top combo with strappy brown sandals. Her younger sister had an off-shoulder white top with frilled hem and ripped white jeans. Theirs was a leisure shopping spree and bodyguards kept vigilance as the two spoiled themselves.
The ever trendy President’s daughters walked leisurely in the streets and visited a number of boutiques.
Theirs is not the ‘girls next door’ image. After all these are the daughters of the most powerful president in the world. They hobnob with the world’s greatest, shop at exclusive malls and are entitled to every luxury money can buy, much as they try to remain simple regular kids, living the life of ordinary teenage girls.
They can go onto Facebook and Twitter like most urban teens (albeit with restrictions), they ride bikes and hang out with their peeps. However, they have carefully been shielded by their parents, making public appearances in choreographed glimpses and it is no wonder, every time they are spotted, they make big news.
However, as expected of any girl their age, their parents have allowed them to date with a warning that any prospective teenage boyfriend will kept under a keen eye.
“Sasha and Malia, before our very eyes you’re growing up to be two strong, smart, beautiful young women, just like your mom. And I’m so proud of you guys. But I will say, for now, one dog’s probably enough,” Obama told them during his final term’s victory speech.
Asked by US radio host Ryan Seacrest whether the girls would be allowed to date boys during his second term, the president said: “I think that any young man who has the guts to get through Secret Service deserves a hearing.”
“All they (Malia and Sasha) want to do is be treated like anybody else. I embarrass them all the time.
“Michelle is very good about making sure that we’re creating a space for them where they can have sleepovers. They can go to the mall. They can go to the movies. They’re going to homecomings at their school,” Obama said of the daughters adding that Malia would be able to learn driving to drive herself rather than keep being driven by the Secret Service.
“You can’t go off on somebody, you can’t act bratty. Because you may be having a moment, but somebody could use that moment and try to define you forever. So you want to be cognisant of that,” Obama told them warning them on the dangers of the Internet and social media.
In an interview with comedian Steve Harvey, President Obama joked: “Malia and Sasha are very sensible, so I trust them to make good decisions. But if anything does go wrong, “I’ve got men with guns following them around all the time.”
“Hey, this is the main reason I ran for re-election. You know I’m gonna have ‘em covered for most of high school,” he added.
And so forgetting about the Kenyan man who recently offered to give 51 cows to marry Malia, many Pulsers are curious to know whether the two girls will accompany their father during his ‘homecoming tour’ next week. Many would die to have a chat with them just to find out what their life is all about.
Ivy League schools
The first daughters are currently attending the prestigious and private Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC. Each student pays a whooping Sh3.5 million per year. That includes nutritious hot lunch from an expensive menu.
Malia is currently touring Ivy League universities. Ivy League schools are generally viewed as some of the most prestigious and are ranked among the best universities worldwide. The list includes Harvard University that costs Sh5.5 million per year for undergraduates and Tufts University for Sh5.7 million per year. Other schools being scouted include the prestigious Stanford University and Columbia University.
Dream vacations
First class accommodation and the finest food are just examples of the many perks they experience. First Lady Michelle Obama accompanied by her two daughters recently toured England and Italy in the city of Milan. The first daughters also enjoy expensive family vacations to Hawaii and the Hamptons where the cost of the vacations is highly classified.
Private Jets and the White House
Forget the usual economy or business class travel; the first daughters get to travel on Air Force One, visiting countries worldwide. And who can say they live in the famous White House? Well, Malia and Sasha can.
Dignitaries
The first daughters have met many prominent people and just recently on their trip to England, they met Prince Harry and the British Prime Minister David Cameron. The two have also had the privilege of meeting the President of China while on a trip last year to Beijing. Those are just a few of the dignitaries Malia and Sasha have rubbed shoulders with.
Trendy and expensive fashion
The first daughters can wear trendy and expensive clothes but they have opted for affordable fashion. On their recent trip, the two were spotted wearing outfits from brands such as American Apparel going for Sh7,000, something many ordinary people can afford. Other brands they wear include Alice + Olivia, Kate Spade and Top Shop. The girls usually wear flats for comfort.
The security detail
The First Lady recently revealed that they try to give them a normal life. She said in an interview that Malia, who is the eldest, is being taught how to drive by the Secret Service. She went on to say that Malia occasionally drives outside the grounds on her own.
